Company Overview
Siloxane Coatings

Silicon Derivatives is a manufacturer of porous-surface cleaning agents, water-oil-stain-mold repellants, and corrosion protection coatings.  These cleaners, repellants and coatings are formulated from polyorganosiloxane polymers, silicone surfactants and silicon ammonium salts.  Coatings produced from these inorganic polymers offer significant benefits over traditional organic polymers:

  • Chemical resistance to organic and inorganic acids, alkalis and solvents
  • Thermal resistance in excess of 1000˚F
  • Resistance to abrasion  (mho hardness in excess of 7.0)
  • Resistance to ultraviolet light degradation
  • Resistance to microbiological corrosion
  • Hydrophobic (water beading) and oileophobic (oil beading) properties that prevent the intrusion of water into porous surfaces and ease the removal of graffiti
  • Resistance to the growth of mildew, algae and fungus
  • Allow the application of ultra thin coatings < 1 mil
  • Non-film forming, permeable masonry architectural finishes

Silicon Derivatives products are applied to a number of substrates to prevent nearly all forms of corrosion:

  • Non-ferrous metals - brass, bronze, copper, aluminum
  • Ferrous metals - carbon steel, cast iron
  • Masonry surfaces - stucco, cement, clay pavers, limestone plasters, and grouts
  • Natural stones and tiles - slate, marble, granite, travertine, limestone, etc.
  • Plastic and vinyl surfaces to add UV protection and prevent pigment oxidation and fading

Our products are produced from abundant global resources (inorganic minerals, such as quartz and limestone) and do not pose a threat to the environment throughout their life cycle of production, refinement, application, and disposal.  The average Silicon Derivative product contains less than 10% organic chemicals generated from petroleum-based feed stocks.  (Petrochemical Compounds PCCs)
